Learn to SURF in Alberta (Yes, Alberta!)

The exciting new sport of River Surfing is ideally suited to Alberta! Ocean Surfers dream of the "endless wave" but only River Surfers actually surf them - you can be surfing the ‘standing waves' of our mountain-fed rivers this weekend!

Anyone can River Surf! Our specialty is teaching people with no surfing experience at all. The only prerequisite is that you are comfortable in the water and can easily swim a few laps in the pool.

Our courses are situated in beautiful Kananaskis Country, only 45 minutes from Calgary. We limit class size to ensure you have a great time and learn as much as possible! Our energetic instructors are carefully screened and fully trained - each is completely focused on your fun, learning and safety!

We teach with boards and equipment that are specially designed for easy learning on river waves (instead of inappropriate gear from ocean surfing). This makes learning to surf on river waves easier and far less frustrating!

Course fees include surfboard, wetsuit, surf floatation vest, helmet and booties! All participants will be required to sign a waiver. You can read and print it  here .

Courses:

Surf Intro! (Saturdays) $129

	This one day course takes you through the basics of river surf safety, river surf etiquette, swimming in the current and catching a wave. Most participants will be able to stand up on the board on the small waves we use for this introductory course.  Experienced ocean surfers will benefit from the river safety knowledge offered at this one-day course!

Surf's Up! (Sundays) $169

	This one day course builds on the skills from "Surf Intro!" and adapts them to the waves River Surfers love to surf. You will get lots of practise time on a regular river surf wave and individual attention from the instructor. The day's end result should be basic surf skills that can be used on the river. (Prerequisite: completion of Surf Intro! course.)
